06/06/1996Finding & Order that Case Nos. 89-1727-TP-PEX and 92-603-TP- PEX be reopened; that GTE institute two-way, measured-rate EAS between the Spencer and Wellington exchanges, and that GTE and United institute two-way, measured-rate EAS between the Creston and Sterling exchanges, to be implemented within six months from the date of this Finding & Order; that GTE establish an in-service date in 92-603 and GTE and United establish an in-service date in 89-1727 within three months of the date of this Finding & Order; that GTE issue in 92- 603 and GTE and United issue in 89-1727, prior to the in- service date, either separate press releases or a joint press release to inform the media of the effective dates and times of the EAS; that GTE and United shall coordinate their plans so that the in-service date and time in 89-1727 is the same for customers of both companies; that for a period of three months following the in-service dates, GTE and United provide a recording which informs customers who dial "a" prior to dialing a number in an affected exchange that they no longer need to dial "1" before placing the EAS call.
